Axel was born in 1960 and grew up on Hydra, a Greek Island. Leonard Cohen becomes Axel’s stepfather from very early on.
A happy childhood turns into difficult teens, and at the age of 19, Axel is admitted to Gaustad Psychiatric Hospital in Oslo. The film is a journey through Axel’s memory, with Axel himself as the captain of the story.
